This permit is valid only on days when burning is not prohibited by the California Air Resources Board, pursuant to Health and Safety Code, Sec. 41855, or Mendocino County Air Quality Management District Regulation 2.
All open outdoor burning shall comply with all applicable local, county, and state regulations.
This permit is not valid for any burning conducted in violation of MCAQMD Reg. 2 and Mendocino County Code, Chapter 9.33, ordinance 3746.
Ordinance 3746 allows the burning of vegetative matter only.
The Uniform Fire Code, Section 1102.3.3 prohibits the burning of paper products.
Prior to burning, your pile may be required to be inspected by the issuing agency.
Burn barrels are illegal.
Any person who fails to observe the rules and regulations of the Air Quality Management District or any designated Fire Agency, or knowingly emits an air contaminant and fails to take corrective action is guilty of a MISDEMEANOR, which may be punishable by a fine and/or jail sentence, or a civil penalty and the cost of putting out the fire.
I agree to comply with the open outdoor burning requirement of the California Air Resources Board, the Mendocino County Air Quality Management District and Fire Agencies, which may include submitting a Smoke Management Plan and a Post-burn evaluation to the Air Quality Management District.
Permit expires one year from the application date.

This permit is issued to the above applicant and is valid for agricultural burning at the location described above.
The burn shall not be located in a public road or public roadway ditch. This permit is not valid where locally prohibited.
Burning at multi-family residential locations, resorts, trailer parks, schools, public agencies and all commercial or industrial sites is illegal.
All burning done in accordance with this permit must be carried out in the presence of an able-bodied, responsible adult who shall remain in charge of the burn until material to be burned is completely consumed.
All burning is to be confined within a cleared firebreak, adequate to prevent it from escaping control.
A water supply capable of extinguishing the fire shall be available at the burn site. This permit must be onsite during burn.
This permit is valid only for burning dry vegetation that was grown on this property.
Small amounts of clean, dry, non-glossy paper or cardboard may be used to ignite pile.
Material to be burned shall be free of illegal materials including poison oak, oleander, cannabis, treated or painted wood, rubber, plastics, tarpaper, construction or demolition debris, metal, and materials producing toxic smoke.
Vegetation must be dried and free of dirt. No green or wet vegetation may be burned.
This permit is suspended on no burn days and at all times of critical fire conditions as declared by the State Forester, CalFire, the Governor, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors, or Fire Chief.
Any violation of the terms and conditions of this permit renders this permit void.
No burning shall be undertaken unless weather conditions, particularly the wind, are such that burning can be considered safe and smoke does not cause harm or damage to adjacent persons or property.
Mendocino County Air Quality Management District staff and designated Fire Agency staff shall have free access of entry for inspection, monitoring, or securing samples for determining compliance with this permit.
Burn must be managed to minimize smoke and conducted to avoid smoke impacts to neighbors. No smoldering piles.
Recommended setback guidance: burn piles should be at least 50 feet from any structure. Burn piles over 4 feet in width should be at least 100 feet from structures on neighboring properties.
This permit is valid only on those days during which agricultural burning is not prohibited by the District or Air Resources Board.
Burning shall be confined to 9am through 3pm on burn days except for grass, leaf, or field crops which shall be 11am through 3pm. Pile size shall align to the selected AQ category.
Call 263-3121 or 263-0312 for burn day status prior to ignition. The CalFire Battalion Chief must be notified at 963-1599 prior to ignition for all burning on extended burn days, near roadways, or high visibility burns.
Permit expires one year from the application date.
